Leading Non-Governmental Organization, NGO, the Maden Healthcare Foundation has wrapped up its Menstrual Health Awareness Month with a landmark international summit, calling for collective action to dismantle barriers that keep girls and women from managing menstruation with dignity.

The virtual summit, themed “Menstrual Health Without Barriers: Voices, Solutions & Action,” held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, brought together policymakers, health professionals, development practitioners, educators, innovators, advocates, and students from Nigeria, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Held via Zoom and YouTube, the event underscored the growing global recognition that menstrual health is not merely a hygiene issue but a critical component of health, education and gender equity.

Organisers said the summit served as a platform for meaningful dialogue on the challenges, opportunities, and actions required to achieve menstrual equity for all. Discussions focused on ending period poverty, improving access to safe products, breaking cultural stigma, and integrating menstrual health education into schools and primary healthcare.

Maden Healthcare Foundation, through the summit, reaffirmed its commitment to advancing menstrual health education and advocacy across Nigeria and beyond. The Foundation noted that eliminating barriers to menstrual health requires coordinated efforts from government, private sector, civil society, and communities.

The event marked the climax of the Foundation’s May activities aimed at raising awareness and driving practical solutions for girls and women who still miss school, work, or opportunities due to lack of access to menstrual health resources.

With voices from four continents, the summit sent a clear message: menstrual equity is achievable, but only through collective action and sustained investment.
