Oborevwori Vows More Contracts for Julius Berger to Tackle Unemployment, Boost Delta Infrastructure

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to awarding more construction projects to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc as part of efforts to accelerate infrastructure development and create jobs across the state.

Speaking on Monday at a Julius Berger project site in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area, the governor said his government would continue to partner with reputable firms to deliver critical infrastructure while expanding employment opportunities, particularly for youths.

Oborevwori stressed that unemployment and economic hardship remain pressing challenges confronting many families, noting that proactive government intervention is essential to reverse the trend.

“There are many challenges facing our people today, especially unemployment and economic hardship. Too many of our young people are giving up because opportunities are limited. That is why we must continue to create jobs, empower our youths, and ensure that development reaches every community,” he said.

He commended construction workers and contractors across Delta State for their dedication, describing their contributions as vital to community growth and development.

The governor further disclosed that the reconstruction of the Effurun Roundabout to NPA axis has been awarded to Julius Berger, in line with plans to modernise infrastructure within the Warri/Effurun metropolis.

Reiterating his administration’s development agenda, Oborevwori said ongoing and completed projects—including roads and bridges—would deliver lasting benefits to residents. He added that the Trans Warri–Ode Itsekiri Roads and Bridges project would be inaugurated upon completion of the Ubeji–Ifie Road.

Oborevwori also praised Bola Ahmed Tinubu for implementing economic reforms that have increased revenue available to states, enabling the execution of key projects and prompt payment of salaries.

“We are determined to complete critical projects across the state, including roads, bridges, and other essential infrastructure. While some are still ongoing, their eventual completion will bring lasting benefits to our people,” he said.

The governor expressed appreciation to workers and residents for their continued support, assuring that his administration would remain focused on initiatives that improve livelihoods and drive sustainable development across Delta State.

He also offered prayers for the safety of workers and road users, expressing confidence that the projects underway would stand as enduring symbols of progress in the state.
