KILLINGS IN ZAMFARA, SOKOTO STATES: ACF Condemns Killings...We Are Saddened and Touched.

The socio-cultural body of the North , the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF has express condemnation of killing s of innocent citizens in Sokoto and Zamfara states, by armed men.

The ACF, in a statement made available to Naij News Alert,  expressed that as a body, were saddened and deeply touched with recurring reportspf killings including the recent killings of about 37 innocent lives and the destruction of properties by some armed bandits in some villages in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State and also that of Zamfara State.

The statement which was signed by Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Biu, Publicity Secretary of the Forum, said, "The killing of the Village Head and Chief Imam of Tabanni Gera in Rabah Local Government Area by the bandits was callous, inhuman, wicked and one too many".

"The brazen mode of operation by the bandits in killing innocent people for whatever reasons cannot in any way address the perceived concerns or grievances of the perpetrators of these crimes".

The Forum's Publicity Secretary noted that both the attacks and reprisals are targeted at innocent people who know nothing about the feuds.

"The ACF condemns the spate of killings of innocent people by armed bandits and gun men in some parts of Northern states", he said.

The Forum, according to Ibrahim Bui, is calling on the security agencies to beef up the intelligence community and be more proactive in their operations in order to avert future occurrence.

"This is because, the issue of intelligence gathering and sharing should be a continuous and sustained effort by both the community and the security agencies, to ensure peaceful coexistence which all communities need for communal benefits, for meaningful socio-economic development can only take place in a peaceful atmosphere", he stated.

"We once more, call on the security agencies to intensify their search for the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bring them to justice to serve as deterrent to others".

"ACF extends its condolences to the communities, the Governments and good people of both Sokoto and Zamfara States as well as the families affected over the unfortunate incidence that are avoidable".

"ACF urges the state governments affected by the dastardly acts to not only mobilize relief materials to the displaced persons but also, ensure that the persons affected are resettled back in their communities in good time", he appealed.
