Goronyo Applauds Tinubu’s Infrastructure Push as APC Picks Ajiya for Sokoto East

Bello Muhammad Goronyo, Esq. Nigeria's Minister of State for Works, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over what he described as unprecedented investment in infrastructure and national development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Goronyo spoke on Sunday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election for Sokoto East Senatorial District in Sokoto State, where Umar Ajiya emerged as the party’s candidate.

According to Barr. Goronyo, "Tinubu administration had demonstrated strong political will in executing strategic road projects aimed at boosting commerce, improving connectivity and strengthening national integration across the country."

He highlighted the Federal Government’s four flagship Legacy Road Projects cutting across the six geopolitical zones, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, Calabar–Ebonyi–Benue–Kogi–Nasarawa–Abuja Superhighway, and the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe–Biu–Maiduguri Road Corridor.

According to him, the projects are designed to open up economic corridors, stimulate trade and improve the living standards of Nigerians.

Goronyo also listed several ongoing road interventions across the country, including the reconstruction of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and Enugu-Port Harcourt Road in the South-East, as well as the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in the South-West.

In the North-West and North-Central, he identified major projects such as the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Dual Carriageway, Sokoto-Zamfara-Katsina-Kaduna Corridor, Kano-Kwanar Hadejia Road, Zaria-Funtua-Gusau-Sokoto Road and the Kano Bypass.

For the North-East, the minister pointed to the Kano-Maiduguri Expressway, Maiduguri-Monguno Road and the rehabilitation of the Gamboru Bridge in Borno State, describing them as critical to improving security, trade and regional integration.

He further cited ongoing projects within the Federal Capital Territory, including the Abuja-Lokoja route and the Koton Karfe-Abaji Road, which he said would ease transportation challenges and improve access to the FCT.

The Minister, in a statement issued and signed by his SA Media, Abdullahi Mohammed, maintained that beyond infrastructure, the Tinubu administration had continued to implement people-oriented policies and social intervention programmes aimed at improving citizens’ welfare and accelerating socio-economic growth.

“The achievements recorded within a relatively short period have justified the confidence Nigerians placed in President Tinubu,” Goronyo said, adding that the President deserved continued support to consolidate on the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also commended the APC leadership for what he described as the peaceful and transparent conduct of the party’s primaries nationwide, saying the exercise reflected internal democracy, party unity and political maturity.

Congratulating Ajiya on his emergence as APC candidate for Sokoto East, Goronyo expressed confidence in his ability to provide quality representation and advance the aspirations of the people of the district.
